    The IT Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the security measures for the company’s infrastructure meets the highest security standards. This position develops and updates security policies, participates in compliance audits and responds to customer facing security questionnaires. Other responsibilities include implementing, monitoring systems with the intent to ensure that the security measures for the company’s infrastructure meet the highest security standards. This position regularly communicates with management regarding security practices and procedures and demonstrates strong technical abilities, problem solving skills and contributes to a team-oriented environment. The IT Security Engineer actively works with outside vendors, the Infrastructure Team and the Service Desk Team to provide the highest level of security and support to the company.



    • Create/review/update security policies and procedures.
    • Participating in security compliance audits (i.e. SOX/SOC/ISO 27001/NIST)
    • Identifying security risks and assist in developing mitigation plans.
    • Participating in Security related projects.
    • Assisting the Director of Security with audits for both physical site and data systems.
    • Managing and responding to security related requests related to:
      • Physical Access
      • Firewalls
      • Content Filter
      • Spam Filter
      • Virus Protection
      • Vulnerability Analysis
    • Familiarity with SIEM and log analysis tools
    • Manage vulnerability analysis, and work with people to correct deficiencies.
    • Troubleshooting and resolving security related technical issues effectively and efficiently.
    • Create accurate and well-documented solutions for security related issues.
    • Providing updates, status, and completion information to the Director of Security through voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
    • Evangelizing security within the Company and be an advocate for customer trust.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all applicant, client, and company proprietary information.
    • Maintains all system standards of compliance.
    • Provides advice, training and technical support for various projects as required.
    • Ensures and promotes effective and efficient utilization of company resources.
    • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Management.

    High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor degree in Computer Science or relevant field preferred. Minimum of Five years of IT security experience and 10 years of general IT experience required. Extensive experience with SOX, SOC, HIPAA, ISO 27001 and HITECH with strong experience and detailed technical knowledge in security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, and application security.



    • Must possess a proficient understanding of General Networking, Firewalls and TCP/IP communications, e-mail filtering, URL filtering, anti-virus, IDS, vulnerability scanning, 2-factor authentication, access control systems, SIEM and VMware products.
    • Comfortable with Microsoft Active Directory, and VMWare virtual environments.
    • Must be proficient in writing documentation, preparing audits, and answering security questionnaires.
    • Must demonstrate exceptional communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking questions where clarification is needed.
    • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret security needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
    • Analyzes problems involving multiple interrelated causes. Where necessary, gathers information and applies complex concepts or methods to generate an effective solution.
    • Exceptional knowledge of computer hardware, software and technical troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to demonstrate successful implementation techniques based on industry established best practices.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all levels of personnel both internally and externally; e.g. leadership, executives, clients, vendors, and agencies.
    • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills with all levels of management, staff, and vendors.
    • Ability to follow instructions and respond to upper managements' directions accurately.
    • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality and monitors own work to ensure quality is met.
    • Must be able to work independently, prioritize work activities and use time efficiently.
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
    • Must be able to demonstrate and promote a positive team-oriented environment.

    • Must be available to work outside of normal working hours or on- call within rotation or as needed.
    • Demonstrates reliability and abides by the company attendance policy.
    • Applicant must be willing to travel 10% of the time and outside of the United States if necessary.
    • Must maintain a professional and clean appearance at all times consistent with company standards.
