  • Overview

    The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. This position serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues and assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. The successful HRBP acts as an employee champion and change agent by cultivating partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives. The HRBP seeks to develop integrated solutions and strives to identify and communicate organizational needs proactively with our HR department and business leaders. The HRBP maintains a working knowledge of assigned business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition in order to aid in achieving short and long term organizational goals.



    • Conducts regular meetings with respective business unit leaders and partners with line managers to identify their human capital requirements and support business change efforts, initiating and facilitating change initiatives and supporting business improvements in line with strategy.
    • Regularly consults with line management on people related item providing HR guidance and objective feedback when appropriate.
    • Analyzes Human Resources key trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
    • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
    • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
    • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
    • Works closely with management and employees to increase productivity, improve workplace relationships, build morale, and retain talent within budgetary guidelines and timeframes.
    • Provides HR policy guidance, interpretation and appropriate fulfillment of HR administration and labor regulation requirements for assigned business units.
    • Help managers create employment terms for new hires, promotions and inter-company transfers ensuring alignment with corporate structures.
    • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
    • Identifies training needs for business units and individual coaching needs and development.
    • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
    • Serves as a subject matter expert by answering HR related questions and resolving issues in a timely manner.
    • Performs miscellaneous duties or drives special projects as requested by upper management.


    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department, office and/or business unit.



    • Minimum 8 years of experience within Human Resources required.
    • Must be able to resolve complex employee relations issues timely and within the best interests of all partied involved.
    • Strong working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
    • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and seeking clarification when needed.
    • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to upper managements’ directions accurately.
    • Uses good sound judgment and includes the appropriate people in the decision-making process.
    • Must be proficient in multiple software programs, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and the Internet.
    • Ability to collect and research internal and external data to analyze complex or diverse information.
    • Uses intuition and experience to recommend and/or design procedures and process solutions.
    • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Demonstrates the ability to develop alternative and effective solutions.
    • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality and monitors own work to ensure quality is met.
    • Must be able to take independent actions and calculated risks when needed.
    • Must be able to work independently, prioritize work activities and use time efficiently.
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

    • This position demonstrates exceptional leadership and ensures all practices are carried out in the most effective and efficient way possible.



    Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and minimum 8 years of experience in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience.



    SPHR/SHRM-SCP and/or PHR/SHRM-CP preferred.
