  • Overview

    A Network Engineer is responsible for maintaining the design and integrity of ExamWorks internal network, including customer-facing hosted and cloud environments.  This position will provide expert technical assistance to team members with the high-level system and networking requests.  The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing and testing complex infrastructures in order to support the needs of both internal as well external customers. In addition, as a member of the Infrastructure Team, this position will provide onsite and remote support to our clients who have critical response time requirements for their business technology systems.  This position requires one to work independently and as part of a team to answering Level 3 escalations, urgent analysis of technical issues, work with the project manager on team related projects, and troubleshoot over the phone/onsite/via remote access to provide operational support for Datacenters and the clients of ExamWorks. The Network Engineer will successfully demonstrate the skills required to secure and manage network infrastructures to protect productivity, mitigate threats, and reduce costs.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Provide technical services and support in the following areas:
      • Network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
      • Internal systems, cloud and network infrastructure
      • Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, Active Directory, SQL
      • Virtualization technologies: VMware and Hyper-V
      • Firewall technologies: IPS, URL Filtering, Anti-Malware
      • Remote Access solution support: VPN, VMware View
      • Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications
    • Provide network assessments and assist in security audits.
    • Deploy and troubleshoot Cisco Identity Services Engine and SDWAN.
    • Document maintenance of all network infrastructure.
    • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages.
    • Evaluates existing data center environments, designs solutions that address business issues, and implements efficient and cost saving solutions for customers.
    • Design, implement and support of Cisco Data Center technology, including, but not limited to, Nexus switching, UCS, ISE, SDWAN, ASA, and IronPort.
    • Design, implement and support of Firewall technology, including, but not limited to CheckPoint, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Cisco FirePower, and Palo Alto.
    • Provides integration of VMware and/or Storage (Pure or Nimble) with Cisco DC technology.
    • Creates and manages the project for key technical deliverables including, but not limited to, capacity planning, implementation, configuration, usage reporting, and allocation to host.
    • Analyze log files, performance issues, and the production environment for mission critical systems.
    • Provides Level 3 support for all installed platforms and provides operational health of the infrastructure and the applications used to control it.
    • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
    • Maintains all standards of compliance.
    • Provides advice, training and technical support for various projects as required.
    • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Management.

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience  

    Bachelor degree in an IT related field. A minimum of five years related experience in enterprise level network administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Extensive knowledge in Cisco Data Center Technologies required. Strong background in VMware, Microsoft, Checkpoint and/or Storage experience (Pure or Nimble) preferred.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations  

    Cisco Certified Network Association (CCNA) certification required.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS 

    • Thorough knowledge of Cisco products and understanding of infrastructure and best practices.
    • High Proficiencies in:
      • Switching (Capacity Planning, VLANs, ACLs)
      • Routing (OSPF, HSRP, EIGRP, BGP)
      • WAN Technology (MPLS, VPLS, VPN, SDWAN)
    • Implementation of centrally managed wireless deployments (Meraki and/or Cisco WLC)
    • Must demonstrate exceptional communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking questions where clarification is needed.
    • Strong technical skills and a creative problem solver motivated to advance in the field and works well in a team-oriented environment.
    • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
    • Utilizes experience in applying enterprise-wide requirement definition and management systems and methodologies required.
    • Ability to follow instructions and respond to upper managements’ directions accurately.
