Overview

The Software QA Analyst position is responsible for first level support between clients, reviewers, and internal staff members.  This involves trouble shooting, communicating, and following up on reported Portal issues via email, phone, or in person.  The Software QA Analyst will also be responsible for the documentation, development, and execution of basic manual test cases.  They are the first line of sanity checking and the last line of defense against code malfunctions.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Participate in full lifecycle application development process from concept to deployment.
  • Can mentor other QA staff and/or provide guidance when necessary.
  • Self manage projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for conceiving, designing, writing, and executing manual and automated test cases.
  • Conducts software modeling and simulation to ensure system functionality.
  • Responsible for testing UI and underlying database and process functionality.
  • Ensures smooth integration of software with existing systems.
  • Ensures and promotes effective and efficient utilization of company resources.
  • Participates in development of long range planning for new projects and programs.
  • Maintains all standards of compliance.
  • Provides advice, training and technical support for various projects as required.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE  

  • Undergraduate degree, background or education in computer science is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a software quality assurance role

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 3 years of experience working in a software quality assurance role.
  • Must possess proficient knowledge of software testing constructs and strategies.
  • Proficient knowledge of data structures and computer logic.
  • Experience working within an agile development environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve by applying strong critical and creative thinking skills.
  • Independent self-starter with the ability to learn rapidly and assimilate new information and techniques.
  • Superb organizational and time management skills, and an ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of mathematical and statistical principles and formulas.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional communication skills by conveying necessary information. accurately, listening effectively and asking questions where clarification is needed.
  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to upper managements’ directions accurately.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality and monitors own work to ensure quality is met.
  • Must be results driven and be able to work independently, prioritize work activities and use time efficiently.

  • Ability to write clearly and informatively to all required audiences and edit own work for appropriate spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to respond appropriately and professionally to all inquiries or complaints from staff, regulatory agencies, upper management, and/or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information one-on-one, in small to large groups, to top management, and/or clients or vendors of the company.
